John Pohlhaus, MBA


John Pohlhaus’ diversified business background spans global Fortune 1000 operations to
startups in the industrial, pharmaceutical, and distribution industries. John holds an MBA
from the Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey, California, and a BA in
Political Science and English Literature from Temple University. After grad school, John was
recruited by Nihon Schering, a Japanese subsidiary of Schering AG, as an intern to work on
marketing research for drug product launches for the Japanese pharmaceutical market. After
returning to the United States, John was recruited by Mitsubishi International Corporation in
New York to work as a manager in the Machinery Group within the Ship Sales Department
where he worked on port development and ship-to-shore crane sales to the Port Authority of
Jamaica. John was then promoted to Mitsubishi’s Venture Capital Group, where he worked
on investments for Mitsubishi group companies.

In 2001, John co-founded with Mitsubishi’s support a distributed generation energy company for
national big box retailers and supermarket chains called Sequoia Energy. John subsequently
served as a consultant for Mitsubishi helping launch a Japanese energy management software
and hardware company called Epsilon Energy. In 2006, John joined the leadership team of a
national fastener distributor called PM Fasteners, where he successfully turned around the
company by securing contracts with national energy, telecommunications, and industrial
customers such as GE, Alcatel Lucent, Anixter, Enersys, East Penn, Lutron, and others. John
purchased the company in 2012 and, as a co-owner, led the company’s improvement to a 10%
net profit.
